BMGF supports various digital decision making and services tools — like video-based agri-extension, market linkage platforms, scheme tracking systems, and livestock management solutions — to address challenges in market access, decision-making, and extension gaps, for improving productivity, farm price realization and system efficiency.
Currently working in Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh — relatively poor, agriculture-dependent states in India — these digital tools can be applied in countries better suited with internet access and smartphone penetration. In areas lacking connectivity, an agent-based model can replicate the approach, making it valuable wherever extension services and market access are weak, especially in agriculture-driven economies.
It has improved access to ecosystem players, reduced information asymmetry, and enabled phygital access to farmer-centric services.
These solutions are low-cost and adaptable, allowing customization to local crops, livestock systems, and market needs. With proven models and early successes in India, they offer clear pathways for replication in other agriculture-dependent regions. In areas with limited connectivity, an agent-based approach using local agents with smartphones ensures effective last-mile delivery and adoption.
